Microsoft Security Essentials (简称MSE)是一款由微软公司开发的免费安全软件，具有抵御病毒和恶意软件的能力。曾经发生过的联想预装Superfish软件劫持用户SSL链接事件后，MSE就第一时间反应提醒用户处理。MSE平时在电脑里很安静，但是关键时刻表现还是不错的，关键是占用资源小，是vista和Win7系统最佳安全伴侣，PS：该软件只适用于Vista和Windows7系统，Win8.1/Win10用户系统自带Windows Defender和MSE基本一致，而且还比MSE增加了加强版的rootkit和bootkits防范功能，XP系统已被完全抛弃。新版已更新至v4.9.0218.0。
